Jullian Applying an Armbar

Jullian Rives started the day in the No-Gi Teen Beginner Division. He found himself facing a strong opposition. Nevertheless, the 16 year old submitted his three opponents by armbar to win the division! The referee walked up to Roberto Torralbas and said:
“Coach he has to do the intermediate division next time”
To which Roberto responded:
“You might not believe me, but he has only being doing BJJ for 3 moths and he has never done any wrestling, he actually is a musician.”
But Jullian had more to conquer as he jumped in the white belt division and won his two matches there a swell.

Celebration!

Next up to bat was Nathan Pace. After wining his first match by a lot to nothing, he faced a giant who was over 6’ 5” and probably over 300 pounds. He found himself passing the half guard with a text book perfect baseball slide and the flipped over by his opponent. Regardless he fought really hard and was very close to upsetting a much stronger and experienced opponent. Nathan has also been only training for 3 months, but has missed at most two days of class. Congrats to him!

Roberto had a tough match against 2000 Black Belt Mundials Silver Medalist Edson Diniz (Edson lost to BJ Penn in the 2000 Mundial Finals). The final score was 6-2 Edson. He then jumped in the Expert Adult Gi Division where he defeated a brown belt 5-0 and lost 2-0 to another brown belt from Team Papovitch.
